Misunderstanding The Bible.

okay so this morning i read GEN 9 and verse 25 brought me great confusion.
It says that Noah curses Canan son of Ham. Something I read to online said it was due to charcter flaws in Ham. but i just dont get it. All he did was go and see his father passed out from to much wine , naked. so he went to his brothers and told them. was it because he himself didnt cover his father. there fore noah thought it was not a very good trait? I dont know. I prayed and ask god to give me insight into this. I dont know why i seem to be having so much trouble with it.
